I'm delighted to announce that my new blog/website is live!

The only problem is that Blogspot wouldn't allow me transfer my blog followers over. Boo Hoo! It would be great if you could re-follow :)  http://www.makeupandbeauty.ie

I am so excited about the site! I will be updating my new blog every afternoon (yes I now have a designated blog time haha). To thank my followers for moving over (and to thank my new followers) I'll be running a blog competition with MAC prizes :)

I won't be posting on this blog anymore.

Sending love to you all :)

I got a request from sterne27 on YT to show the tattoo on my wrist so I decided to show you them all! :)

I got this tattoo on my wrist in The Mandalay Bay Hotel, Las Vegas last summer. What happened in Vegas certainly didn't stay in Vegas! haha It says Viva la Vida and it means 'Love Life' and coincidently is the name of a Coldplay song :) This phrase is a nice reminder to relax, something I often forget to do.

This was my first tattoo, it's on my lower back. I often forget I even have this one because I can't see it :)

This picture was taken in the tattoo parlour so it's all red and blotchy. It's quite light and delicate now.
It's Persian and it translates 'It's not in how we fall but how we rise'.

Yet another video ladies :) It won't be posted on YouTube.
Let me know what you think and pop a comment under the video :)

OH MY GOD!!! This is the most amazing thing anyone has ever done for me. I was in tears! This has just made my year. Thank you so so much Maxime (http://twitter.com/Maxibee), you are truly amazing.
I'm still trying to figure out what I've done to deserve this! I feel so humbled.

Made me realise how many goofy faces I make!! I'm still in shock, this is such an incredibly thing for someone to do, I don't deserve this!

Hi everyone,

Here's the video so many of you requested, Pink make-up (includes foundation, lips, eyes and cheeks) that I was wearing in my monthly favourites video :) See my  monthly favourites video below the tutorial.

And here's my monthly favourites video...

There was a product launch event on in The Body Shop on Thursday. There was 20% off everthing for people who had BS cards so how could I resist :)
The Body Shop have also lowered their prices, Finally. Way too over priced. The last time I mentioned them on YouTube I had quite a few comments from people saying that they had been bought out by a big cosmetics company and that this company tested on animals. I looked into this before returning and found that they have been taken over but that their fair trade/animal protection policies still stand!

Vanilla and  Nutmeg Body Butter. This is from their festive collection. It has a soft subtle scent, unlike the Papaya one that nearly made me sick!

I decided to try a perfume oil in coconut. It's quite soft and pretty, not overpowering at all. I added some into a plain moisturiser the other day and it was gorgeous.

I also picked up this Tinted Glow Enhancer 02, which I am loving! It gives a soft glow without shimmer or shine.
I have worn it on its own and under foundation. Here's a swatch...

I also got a free clutch, which I'm loving!

I never really liked The Body Shop but I'm happy with my purchases :)

Hi everyone,

Hope you're all having a good week.

There's a lot of drama on YouTube this week so I decided to do something fun.
Enter make-up... :)

I love the smokey eye look. This is my super easy and quick way to get the look.
Check out mSmokey Eye Tutorial Video on Sarah's blog ... Click here

Please leave me a comment on her blog and as always I'll put every comment into a randomiser and someone will win a M.A.C Lustre Glass. I'd love some feedback since I'm always afraid of doing tutorials haha.

This is the look I wore in my Favourite Shoes video. I had lots of  requests for it.

Thanks ladies :)

I was contacted by Sunlove a few weeks ago. They asked if I would like to try a sample. There was no mention of reviews or videos at that stage, just sending me a sample.
I hadn't heard too much about them (I was away for the July/August drama!) They were aware that I was sick and sent me sweet messages to wish me well. I was impressed.
However, a few days ago I posted a video (which I pre-recorded a few weeks ago) about St Moriz and St Tropez. I received quite an offensive message. They were wondering why I said I was sick and then made a video about another tan and not sunlove. They also mentioned that they are not a dodgy company and said some negative things about the tans I had reviewed and named an agent I could contact to check his company ( I have no idea why, all I did was get delayed in getting back to them, I  made no insinuations!)I was furious and I wondered why a company would contact me in this manner so I decided to do a bit of research. It was then that I found gemsmaquillage's video and blog post ...

Gemma's You Tube video about Sunlove:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HqREjxSJeQ&feature=channel_page
Gemma's blogpost:
http://gemsmaquillage.blogspot.com/2009/09/important.html

I will not be reviewing their product. However, I would like to say that had they continued being nice to me I probably would not have researched them and found the horrible tweets etc so I respect every guru who did a review and recommended sunlove, I would have done the very same had I not have learned about their unprofessionalism.

I have noticed that Sunlove have attacked people who did not want to try their product. I wanted to make my followers aware of the situation before I contact Sunlove to tell them I will be returning their sample. I will be prepared for some slander on their part, since they have proved again and again that this is how they handle their customers.

Thanks for reading,

                          Cooking with Lex

As you know I'm mad about make-up, beauty and fashion. What you may not know is that I love to bake! Show me an image of well decorated cupcakes on a pretty cake stand and I'm as happy as I would be in a shoe shop.

I also spend quite a lot of time online looking at recipes. It never occured to me to find someone who blogs about cooking.
Enter Lex! I know Lex from YouTube (I love her hauls and we do transatlantic swaps) She tweeted a link to her blog, low and behold images of pretty cupcakes and cookies appeared...instant heaven! I am delighted Lex has started a Cookery Blog. There are excellent recipes up there. I like that they are tried and tested (many are passed from older family members). Usually when I find recipes online I have no idea how it will turn out, now they are Lex tested :)

If you enjoy cooking and baking here's the link:

I'm a self confessed St Tropez addict. It is quite expensive (€39) so when I heard that there was a product that has the same colour, quality etc I was delighted. When I saw the price tag (€5) I was even more delighted. I bought some on ebay and gave it a try. It would be brilliant if I didn't have to spend so much money on tan! Here's my video;

Self Tan Review: St. Moriz v's St. Tropez

What's your favourite self tan product?

missmercurylady is having a great competition!! http://missmercurylady.blogspot.com

Here are the rules:

1. Must be a follower
2. Must post her giveaway on your blog.
3. Post the link where you posted her giveaway in the comments section
AND
4. Tell her one of your TOP HGs and why should she try it in the comments section.

**If with this giveaway she somehow hit 100 followers, she will throw in 4 more prizes. So 5 winners total.

WINNER will be selected using random.org

Contest will end October 13!

I'm loving waist cinching belts at the moment. I have an hour glass body shape (Bust and hips are the same width with a small waist)

I'm currently a UK8, I have quite a long waist so I like to wear thicker belts. I'm quite short (petite is a nicer word!) so adding a belt and heels seems to add height and interest.

Rather oddly all of my favourites are from Primark/Penneys so they are super cheap (between €2 and €4!)
I have quite a collection but here are my favourites:

I love them all equally and wear them to death!

There's something about this outfit that I love. I don't love any of the individual pieces but I love the over all effect. I had this on my desktop and couldn't stop looking at it! haha It's so warm and cosy :)I think I may try put together a similar look from my own wardrobe. (since I won't be paying £950 for the Chloe dress!!)

Since I'm sick and house bound (boo hoo!) I'm very miserbable and bored. I decided to de-pot some MAC eye-shadows and blushes, something I've been meaning to do for weeks.

I completed the de-potting without cutting or burning myself... a miracle! As I was putting the shadows into my paletts I decided that I was enjoying myself. I took out every shadow and sorted them by colour. I'd never have done this except I was so bored! Haha So I decided to share :)

Blush: Well Dressed, Peeches, Lillicent (yes I nearly melted it!)
Stark Naked, Peechykeen, Blunt

Carbon, Smut, Deep Truth

Now all I need to do is fill the gaps :)

Hi ladies,

Hi everyone,

I'm addicted to John Frieda products at the moment. My hair has been quite dry lately. I assume a summer of sun and chlorine has done my hair no favours.

When I was in Lanzarote my hair was completely un-managable. I think the extra mineral content in the water makes my hair limp and very difficult to style. I set out to find a deep conditioning treatment.

I came across John Frieda Frizz Ease Recovery Mask in the supermarket so gladly gave it a go. It is recommended to leave the product in for 5 minuntes but since my hair was so dry I left it in for an hour and then rinsed it out.

My hair was like silk afterwards! I was so pleased that I bought a whole tub of it when I got home. I now use it once a fortnight for 5 minutes.

Since I loved it so much I decided to try some of their other products. I settled on Frizz Ease Serum. I don't usually have frizzy hair but occasionally after lots of styling my hair could do with a relaxing serum.

I applied a small amount to damp hair, avoiding the roots like the plague. I let my hair dry naturally. My hair was really soft afterwards. A downside for me is that whenever I use the serum my hair gets greasy more quickly.

I think I'll stick to the Miraculouos Recovery Mask and save the serum for really bad hair days (the kind that only happen once or twice a year!)

I'm keen to try their range for Blondes.

What are your favourite hair products?

Hi everyone,

I'd love if you would check out my new video, 5 Minute Make-up. This one won't be on YouTube, it's on Sarah's blog. Here's the link;

 http://short.ie/f6kevd

It'd be great if you could let me know what you  think by leaving a comment below the video. I'll do the same as I did for my last video on Sarah's blog; one comment will be chosen at random and that person will win a M.A.C Lipglass :)

The look in the video is my usual day make-up. I also usually wear this look in YouTube videos. It's really quick and easy because I'm always running late :)

Thank you all for your support!

This type of video has been requested a lot!

Eimear loves make-up! Although she doesn't wear very much since she's so young! But she did let me experiment on her, thanks Eimear! :)

All the products I used on her are from Boots and are super cheap.

Hope you enjoy!

I was very excited to try a new cleansing routine. It turns out my skin doesn't seem to like change. After a week I woke up with a big breakout on my chin. I usually use Quinoderm but my chin was sore all over so I didn't want to use anything too harsh.
I picked up  Clearasil Ultra Vanishing 3 Day Acne Treatment Cream when I was in Spain (there weren't any other options!) and it worked then so I decided to give it another go. I applied it morning and night and my skin was nearly perfect after two and a half days.
One of it's main ingredients is Salicylic Acid which causes cells of the epidermis to shed more readily, preventing pores from clogging up and allowing room for new cell growth. Some people are allergic to Salicylic Acid so be careful.

I'll definitely repurchase this product. I may even bin my Quinoderm!

Where have I been? What have I been doing? Why trying out mascara, of course!
I decided to give Boots No. 7’s new Extravagant Lashes mascara a go. As you may already know, I usually don't like No7 products but I couldn't resist a new mascara and the name of this one had me pretty excited. Sad, I know!

Boots’ words:

“Extravagant loading for luxurious volume and a memory polymer that lifts and curls lashes.”

The image shows a unique pink brush, I have to admit that I was a little disappointed to find that the brush was black. The really unique feature of this mascara is that it has a square brush. I was looking forward to having extravagant, dramatic lashes.

Firstly let me say that I really like the packaging, It's quite classy. Although I was excited about trying the square brush I was a little concerned that the size and shape of the brush would make it difficult to apply, particularly behind my lashes and lower lashes.

I started by applying one coat. I took my time as I found the brush was a little large for the size of my lid. The brush felt too chunky and because of it's squareness I had to manoeuvre the wand away from my skin. This is definitely not a mascara I would choose when in a hurry, it would be all over my face! I like mascara's with big wands but I feel this one needs to be tapered.

Initially the brush helped lift the lashes. However, after a few coats my lases started to stick together, it did not separate the lashes. It is also really hard to coat the back of my lashes, which is a necessity for me since I have such fair lashes.

It does give a smooth and non-flaky finish but it didn't give lift. It also provided less than average volume.

Overall, It's very disappointing. This won't be staying in my make-up bag.
Bottom line, the name 'Extravagant Lashes' is a bit of a stretch. This mascara cost €16, I feel robbed!

Hi everyone!

My friend Sarah has started a blog and to help her get some followers I made a video for her page. It won't be on my channel so please check it out :) http://www.westcoastcooler.ie/blog/

Would love if you could check it out and follow her! She's doing some work for west coast cooler. Her blog is fab and she has a competition to win a €5000 shippping trip in London.

The video is about the many different types of concealers and how I use them on a daily basis. Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks for your support ladies!

My local beauty salon have recently started offering Glyolic peels as part of their services.
I have some discolouration on my chin from teenage spots. The texture of the skin there is different to the rest of my skin. I spoke to the dermatologist about this and she recommended a mild glycolic peel. In order to prepare my skin for the a few treatments I was told to use this cleanser for a month before treatment (which cost €51!Extremely expensive for a cleanser!!)

Use:

It says on the box that the cleanser is suitable for all skin types that require deep clean, refining of pores, lines and congestion. It can be used to remove make-up which I'm quite thankful for as I couldn't possibly add more steps into my beauty regime, I'm far too lazy! It also removes eye make-up remover without irritating your eyes.
I was told not to use this whilst on holiday as it can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight.

Results:

I've been using it for 2 weeks morning and before bed. The texture of the area has improved dramatically and I have seen a huge improvement in pore congestion. The dermatologist recommended I use this product for one month every year.
I'm really happy with the results so far. I'll let you know my final verdict in 2 weeks :) Hopefully I won't get any irritation.

I bought mine in Slender Health Beauty Salon in Dublin.
This particular product can only be sold by professionals because it has such a high percentage of glycolic acid(it doesn't state what percentage on the box as it's not sold commercially. I would suggest that you see a dermatologist if you want to try a similar product, as any glycolic acid product you can buy online will not not be the same strength and will not provide dramatic results.

I bought these sexy shoes from Aldo but I haven't a clue what to wear with them yet! Help! :)

They cost €74

I was also eyeing up this bag!

When I arrived back from my trip I had problems fitting the contents of my suitcase in my closets...yes, plural :) I decided to do a clear-out since most of the clothes didn't fit after some weight loss.
I am ashamed to admit that I filled ELEVEN large refuse sacks. I felt so guilty that I had that many clothes. The bags wouldn't even fit in the car so that I could bring them to the charity shop (one of the shops employees came and picked them up in a van!)

Now I have a dilema! I have nothing to wear... ha ha! I need to put a staple wardrobe together.
Th problem is I have no idea what constitutes a wardrobe staple.
In the past I used to buy things because they were pretty, I never thought about what I could wear with the item so I ended up with hundreds of random pieces.

I'd like to buy some really good quality pieces for my wardrobe. I'd rather have a few well tailored items than a tonne of random things.

It's time for some research!! : )

Hi everyone,

After my nice break I'm back to blogging regularly!

I'm having difficulty getting my holiday photos from my camera, lost the cable! Uh Oh! So I decided to blog about some items that I am hoping to add to my wardrobe this week.

I ordered both of these, one in navy one in grey. I know,I know, self control is the order of the day. I'll probably send the one I like least back. They look like they fit well. They cost £40 each.

I saw a girl in a shopping centre wearing these and I had to ask her where she got them, they looked amazing sexy on. They're from Aldo. Will start the search tomorrow.

From www.asos.com I love this dress, it's so dainty!

From www.asos.com, soooooo Amy!! :)

So these are the items I will be hunting this week. When I started typing this entry I was only thinking about the blazers, by the end I bought 2! What is wrong with me?! :)

I think I might actually be chilled to the core! That is a miracle for someone who never switches off :)

I´m still trying to catch my breath, My hotel is on a really steep hill appropriately named ´Cardiac Hill´...which has nearly resulted in cardiac arrest on numerous occasions! It took me 10 mins to get up to reception to the nearest computer with all the heat stops. I must be very unfit!

I´ve been lying by the pool today readin my book(The Rapture). Jumping in and out of the pool to cool down. Thanks for all your tips on bringing down the sunburn, they worked a charm.
Ah nostalgic moment... Mariah Carey Always be my Baby is on in the hotel reception. That was my abcolute favourite song when I was 14, I used to sing it in the shower into my shampoo bottle :) Haven´t heard it in years!

I´m off to McDonlads in a few minutes to use their wi-fi so I can upload photos of my purchases, long overdue!

I´m also planning some shopping. The beauty shops seem to stock Dior, Clinique, Helena Rubenstein, Armani etc. Any ´can´t live without´ products you recommend??

Talk to you tomorrow, hopefully with photos this time (major downside of island life)

Amy x

Hi everyone,

I had a busy day shopping in Zara and Bershka. I bought lots of pretty things, I´ll try upload some pictures... looking for wi-fi :)
It is absolutely boiling here. Typical of the Irish to complain about the heat after moaning for a year about the cold!

I have commited mysdelf to learning how to snorkel, I sense danger!

Off for a strole down the beach now... yay!!

Adios,

Amy x

Hola,

Yes that is all the Spanish I know :)

Today I tried the Avon SPF for face in a factor higher than I would usually use. Mistake!! I have a big red face! :(
The cream smelled lovely and it wasn´t greasy. I reapplied regularly throughout the day. After the second application my face started to sting. Think I´ll stick to Piz Buin for the rest of ther holiday.

I spent the day at the pool, it was great fun. I´ve decided that it´s time I learned to snorkel. Think I´ll try it in the pool first :)

I´m just back from a health shop where I purchased a significant amount of Aloe Vera gel. I´m hoping it brings the red right down!

I bought myself a gorgeous straw hat today. I was eyeing one at home but knew I wouldn´t be able to pack it. I got a fab one for 8euro, instead of the 50 euro one I had my eye on in Debenhams. Delighted with myself!

Wore my gold gladiator sandals out last night, so comfortable for dancing and still really glamourous. We found a cool bar with great music, I think I´ll probably end up there after dinner tonight :)

I picked up some weird make up which I´m looking forward to trying. I got some cool rings in an Asian fashion shop. They were really cheap so I bought one in every colour!

Think a visit to Zara might be in order tomorrow!

Will post some photos tomorrow too.

Amy x

Hi everyone,

I made it to the Canaries in one piece and have already started shopping...ooops!
There are tonnes of perfume and make up shops selling high end products like Dior, Channel etc but at discounted tax free prices. I´m very happy about this :)
There are also some pretty boutiques and a centre which houses brands like Zara and Bershka (I haven´t ventured there yet!)
My videos will be uploaded every few days by a helpful angel at home... thank you Phil! I´ll buy you something nice.
I´ll update as I buy new things!

I was very happy to find that McDonalds here sells Fruit n Yoghurt. I already had two, I could live on them.
I´m off to get ready for a night out. It´ll take an hour to choose a dress since I brought way too many!

Adios,
Amy x

Hi everyone!

I bought a Philips Satin Ice Epilator ages ago and haven't had the guts to use it (it looked like millions of little teeth when I turned it on!) I'm heading away on holiday to the Canaries today so I decided to be brave and give it a go (with some encouragement from Rebecca aka Bebiv on twitter, love her blog by the way.... http://bebiv.blogspot.com check her out!)

Results:
I waited until after my shower as instructed by Rebecca. I sat on my bedroom floor and went for it. I'm actually still shaking but it was completely worth it! It was actually really quick but by no means pain free. At first it felt the same as having a tattoo done. However, after a few minutes I got the hang of it. The tighter you pull your skin taught the more tolerable the pain is! The ice pack that came with the model I bought is pretty useless though.

So as I mentioned I'm heading off on holiday this afternoon. Fear not, I will still be uploading videos regularly:) and updating my blog! I'm planning to buy some nice beauty and make-up products since its tax free over there (like I need a reason!! ) No doubt I'll be twittering away :)

Slán my lovlies!
Amy x

Here goes my experiment. I swatched MAC Painterly(skin colour) and Blackground(black) Paintpot beside each other and brushed MAC eye shadows on top to see if they look different. Most of them didn't turn out great but there were some surprising ones!

MAC Antiqued
Right - Over Blackground
Left - Over Painter

MAC Swish
Top - Over Painterly
Bottom- Over Blackground

MAC Satin Taupe
Top - Over Blackground
Bottom- Over Painterly

MAC Steamy
Top - Over Blackground
Bottom- Over Painterly

I think I'll be using steamy over Blackground Painpot for nigh time looks, it looks amazing! All That Glitters and woodwinked didn't come out well over the dark paintpot. Deep Truth looks pretty gorgeous, I prefer it over the park paintpot. Swish looks a completely different colour!

Hi ladies,

Here are some goodies I picked up in The Body Shop. I haven't been in there in years. I feel that the products are very over priced for the quality. Their products are not tested on animals and all their butters are fair trade so that's good!

I got Passion Fruit Body Butter (€17), Shea Lip Butter (€7), Cream Blush and Rose Petal Blush (both reduced price) The body butter is very very sweet smelling (think it might actually put me off eating chocolate when I'm wearing it!) but it is incredible moisturising, my skin feels extremely soft and bump free, Yay! The Shea Lip Butter is a little drying, don't think I would re-purchase it.
This blush looks so pretty. The colour is cute, it's quite similar to Benefit Dandelion. I love the flower embossing however, there are chunks of glitter added in to the top layer...a very unwelcome addition! I think these retail for €16, I got it for €9. It definitely isn't worth the full price; it's quite chalky and the colour isn't great on my skin!

The liquid blush reminds me of MAC Peachykeen. It is a tawny colour but gives a similar flush to Peachykeen. I wanted a cream blush as powder is a little heavy for summer. I paid €7 for this, it was reduced so I'm not sure what the full retail price is. The colour is gorgeous and it is quite pigmented, a little goes a long way.

Think I'll stick to buying body products instead of make-up from The Body Shop! I don't know how they justify their prices.

Here's my video:

Hi ladies,

On Saturday I took a trip up North to Belfast. It was my Birthday so I was being treated to bit of a shopping spree. For anyone who isn't Irish, I'm from Dublin in the Republic of Ireland and it is quite expensive here, you don't get a lot for your euro! The North of Ireland uses Sterling and is much better value, hence taking the shopping trip a little further.

I took a little trip into MAC to have a look at the Colour Craft Collection. I had no plans to buy anything the MAC Pro card can't be used in MAC in Belfast so I'm saving myself for my London trip in August. Expect a disgustingly large haul!! :)

I was followed by my very own paparazzi :)

I took a quick look at MAC Colour Craft collection. Here I'm examining the Mineralise Skin Finish trios. I swatched all three and decided I like Triple Fusion the best, it looked really pretty on my cheekbones.

I checked out the 131 Duo Fibre Blush brush (£26.50) and the Mineralise Skin Finishes (£19). Porcelain Pink, Sunny By Nature and Cheeky bronze. I wasn't overly impressed with any of them.

I swatched all of the mineralise blushes too
the only one I really liked was Daft Pink.

I also covered both of my hands in lipsticks :)

I want Hue, Sandy B, Bare Slimshine, Pretty please and Colour Crafted. London here I come :)

Although I didn't snap up anything in MAC (thank you for not accepting Pro-Cards!!) I did pick up a lot of other goodies. I will post a clothing and make-up haul tomorrow!

Slán ladies!
